Sideshow Carnies
Step right up, townies and rubes! In the Great Depression of 1931, a ragtag bunch of travelling Carnies have been stranded high and dry, but will entertain you - and make some moolah - while they await pickup. The Barker introduces each astonishing act: The Multilingual Elocutionist! The World’s Strongest Man! The Mesmerizing Mentalist! And the sultry Snake Lady! Not for the faint of heart!
Sideshow Carnies is a family-friendly, scripted fifteen-minute play with comedy, improv, puppetry, dance and music. The story and characters were inspired by Sin City Improv Season 2: Carnies, which featured a large cast and ran for a spectacular 30 episodes in 2011-2012.
This new play premiered at Theatre Skam's SKAMPEDE outdoor Theatre Festival in July, 2021 and was performed 27 times to enthusiastic and appreciative audiences. The troupe returned to the OUT THERE ARTS FESTIVAL with performances in Quadra Village, presented by Alter Arts Society.
